This privacy policy explains how Yorkshire Lifeguards collects, uses and protects personal information when you use this website or contact us through it. Yorkshire Lifeguards is operated by Jake Bennett. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Jake Bennett trading as Yorkshire Lifeguards is the data controller for personal information submitted through this website.

• Formspree, to process contact form submissions (see below)
• Email and cloud service providers used to receive, store and respond to enquiries
• Awarding bodies, trainers, assessors or venue partners where needed for a course or booking
• Safeguarding, welfare, emergency, legal or insurance contacts where necessary
• Professional advisers or authorities where required by law

How your form submission is processed

The contact form on this website is processed by Formspree (formspree.io), a third-party form processing service. When you submit the form, your information is transmitted to Formspree and then forwarded to Yorkshire Lifeguards by email. Form submissions may be stored in our email account while we handle and follow up on the enquiry.

Formspree is based outside the UK and may process personal information in the United States or other countries where it operates. Where personal information is transferred internationally through Formspree, we rely on Formspree’s published privacy and transfer safeguards, and we only use Formspree to process website enquiry submissions. Children, young people and sensitive information

Some enquiries may relate to children or young people. Where possible, enquiries about children’s programmes should be submitted by a parent, carer or responsible adult. Please only include information that is relevant to the enquiry, such as age, swimming ability, water confidence or programme interest.

Some information you provide may include special-category data under UK GDPR, such as health, medical, disability or safeguarding information. We ask you not to send this unless it is necessary for your enquiry. Where it is provided, we use it only where needed to respond appropriately, assess suitability, support safety, meet safeguarding or welfare responsibilities, or comply with legal obligations.

How we protect information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including limiting access to enquiry information, using password-protected email and account systems, and only keeping information for as long as needed. No website or email system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through the contact form.

Automated decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling to make decisions about enquiries, course suitability or bookings.

How long we keep your information

General enquiries are normally kept only for as long as needed to respond and follow up, and are usually deleted within 12 months unless the conversation is still active or follow-up is continuing. Where an enquiry leads to a booking, course, safeguarding concern, complaint, accident or incident record, partnership discussion, insurance matter or legal requirement, information may be kept for longer where necessary for administration, safety, safeguarding, legal, insurance or record-keeping reasons. We do not maintain marketing databases or mailing lists.

Cookies

This website does not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. It may use technical cookies necessary for basic site function. No personal data is collected through cookies on this website.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to:
