What this service is

Regular, planned training to keep your team current and your records clean.

Aquatic venues operating under RLSS UK guidance are expected to maintain regular in-service training for lifeguards and rescue-trained staff — not just at qualification or renewal, but as an ongoing part of operational safety management. That training needs to be documented, structured and traceable.

As an RLSS Approved Training Provider, Bluewatch Training can work directly with venue managers and aquatic coordinators to provide planned ongoing staff training sessions, RLSS-aligned training content, training registers and qualification-expiry awareness — for individual sites or across multiple venues.

This is separate from initial qualification courses. It is the ongoing training layer that sits between qualifications and keeps staff sharp, confident and ready for audit, inspection or incident.

Who this is for

Leisure centres & swimming poolsMaintaining regular in-service training for NPLQ lifeguards and rescue-trained staff.
Holiday parks & hotel poolsSeasonal venues needing structured training records and staff readiness evidence through the operating season.
Swim schools & academiesKeeping NRASTC-qualified teachers current with ongoing rescue and emergency response practice.
Schools with pool facilitiesSupporting ongoing rescue-readiness for SPERA or NRASTC-trained staff between qualifications.
Multi-site operatorsManagers overseeing aquatic staff across more than one venue who need consistent records and training provision.
What the service can include

Everything you need between qualifications.

Ongoing training support structured around your venue, your team and your operating calendar.

Planned training sessions

Regular, scheduled in-service training sessions — agreed around your pool availability, rota and operating calendar, so staff training is planned rather than reactive.

RLSS-aligned training content

Training plans and lesson content aligned with RLSS UK standards — supporting the ongoing competency requirements for qualified lifeguards and rescue-trained staff.

Site-specific rescue practice

Practical pool rescue and emergency response practice relevant to your specific venue layout, pool depth, staffing model and Emergency Action Plan.

Training registers & records

Attendance registers and training records for every session — uploaded to the RLSS UK platform where applicable, and available for managers, auditors and inspectors.

Qualification expiry awareness

Support with tracking when staff qualifications are due for renewal — so managers are not caught out by unplanned lapses in cover or compliance.

Audit & operational evidence

Documented evidence of training activity, session content, attendance and competency — supporting internal audits, management reporting, insurance requirements and inspections.

Multi-site training records

For operators managing aquatic staff across more than one location — consistent training provision and records across all sites, managed through a single relationship.

RLSS online platform

The RLSS UK online training platform allows managers to view qualification information, digital wall charts, training history, uploaded training registers and indicators showing when staff qualifications are approaching expiry. CPD certificates are available where RLSS UK advertised training plans are followed.

Qualifications supported

Ongoing training across the full range of aquatic awards.

Bluewatch Training can provide ongoing training support for staff holding any of the following RLSS UK qualifications — or a combination, where a venue operates mixed teams.

How it works

A practical, low-friction service built around your venue.

Step 1

Tell us about your team

Contact us with details of your venue, the qualifications your staff hold, how many staff are involved and what your current training arrangements look like. No commitment at this stage.

Step 2

We discuss your requirements

We talk through what ongoing training looks like for your setting — frequency, format, pool availability, staffing levels, qualification mix and what your operational and record-keeping priorities are.

Step 3

We agree a training plan

We put together a proposed training plan — session frequency, content areas, record-keeping approach and how it fits into your rota and operating schedule. Agreed in writing before delivery begins.

Step 4

Ongoing delivery & records

Training sessions are delivered to schedule. Records and registers are maintained and available to your management team. Qualification expiry dates are tracked. You focus on running your venue.
